Manda Harvest® Use in CEA

Manda Harvest® is a special fermented fertilizer that stimulates growth and improves overall plant health. It is especially effective on leafy greens and can be a key factor in the success of hydroponic farms. Manda Harvest® is certified organic in the United States. It is made from 41 botanical ingredients which have been naturally fermented for over three years. It is safe for humans and animals and smells and tastes sweet like fruit.

Application and Best Practices

It takes very little Manda Harvest® to be effective. We recommend a dilution rate of 10000:1. This is roughly .5mL of Manda Harvest® per gallon of water. We estimate that 1L of Manda Harvest® is enough to make weekly applications in a standard size container farm for one year. Foliar applications will yield the best results. Adding to the reservoir is also an option. One liter of Manda Harvest® costs $440 as of April 2023. Feedback from hydroponic farmers includes significant reduction in tip burn, significant improvement in cosmetics and marketability in all leafy green varieties, and more consistent yields. Increases in yield up to 20% have also been reported in certain varieties such as Green Forest romaine.

How is Manda Helping?

Research suggests that Manda Harvest® is affecting the plant in a few key areas:

  • Photosynthesis - plants use available light more efficiently
  • Translocation - plants uptake and move nutrients around more efficiently
  • Defense/recovery from stress - healthy plants engage internal defenses against pest, disease

History

Manda Harvest® is made on the island of Innoshima in southern Japan by Manda Fermentation Co LTD. The Manda brand is over 300 years old and was formerly a sake brewery. This is where Manda’s fermentation expertise originates. Manda Harvest® has been used in traditional agriculture in Japan for 30 years under the name “Manda 31”.
